Singer and songwriter Benny Dayal released his new single “Yaaro Neeyo” across digital platforms on August 18, 2026. This release marks his official return to the Tamil independent music space. The track focuses on themes of love and memory. Dayal stated he aimed to create an honest and intimate song that listeners could connect with regardless of their current life stage.

Fusing Amapiano With Tamil Pop

The track stands out due to its specific production choices. Dayal and his team built “Yaaro Neeyo” around an Afro-inspired Amapiano sound. This South African house music subgenre relies heavily on deep basslines and percussive rhythms. The production team paired these global electronic elements directly with traditional Tamil lyrics written by Vignesh Ramakrishnan.

Proto, also known as Prito Intiacandy, handled the production and programming. Ranbeer Sidhu completed the mixing and mastering for the final release. Dayal noted that bringing the Amapiano sound together with the Tamil language felt refreshing. The release also signals Dayal’s entry into the EP format, indicating more independent tracks will follow. He plans to support his independent catalog with a live show titled ‘The Crossover’ in Chennai this October.

The Shift From Playback to Independence

Dayal built his career singing major playback hits for the Indian film industry across several languages. Choosing to release a Tamil single independently shows a deliberate shift in creative priorities. He wanted the freedom to produce a specific sound that might not fit into a standard commercial film soundtrack.

For musical artists, observing an established playback singer move into the independent sector highlights the current value of the indie market. You do not need to rely on film studios to validate your sound. If you want to experiment with global genres like Amapiano and mix them with your regional language, the independent route offers the fastest path to release.

When you distribute your tracks through digital platforms like TuneCore, Madverse, Horus Music, or Ziddi, you retain full control over your production choices. You select your own producers and mixing engineers. Dayal’s approach proves that releasing music on your own terms allows you to define your artistic identity outside the constraints of traditional commercial formats.
